Proverbs 12. Verse 1 says it all, “Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, but he who hates correction is stupid”. It is very hard to love discipline, to be corrected for something you enjoy doing or for something you thought you were doing right. However, by seeking that discipline, it shows that your true interest is in growing to your potential (gaining knowledge), not just living for yourself.
On the flip side, hating correction is stupid. Fighting against correction or hating it, only shows that you care only for yourself and have no interest in learning or obtaining knowledge; a “live and don’t learn” mentality. This type of thinking means that you will be making the same mistakes over and over again. Dear Lord, please don’t let that be me. I want to learn from my mistakes (or better yet, from others) and not repeat them. Thank you Lord for your patience and discipline.
