Proverbs 26

Verse 2 states, “Like a fluttering sparrow or a darting swallow, an undeserved curse does not come to rest.” Have you ever been falsely accused of something? It hurts deeply to have someone blame you and punish you for something you never did. I have had this happen multiple times in my past and it made me very angry. I kept dwelling on it and saying, “well if I’m going to be punished for the crime, I might as well go do it”. This is exactly what satan wants you to do; to lash back with sin instead of taking the higher road.

As the verse states above, an “undeserved curse” (wrongful accusation) “does not come to rest” (will not hold up). You see, if you are a person of integrity and high moral character, these false accusations will not hold up. The lies will eventually falter and “flutter” away. Does it hurt? Yes, but don’t dwell on them, or soon you will find yourself on a slippery slope to sin. Take your worries to God and leave them with Him. He will take care of them, for He loves you.

Lord, please help me not to focus on undeserved curses, for You said they will not come to rest; instead, have me focus on You. Also, Lord, help me not to be one who places wrongful accusations on others, so I won’t add to a sinful system, but rather uplift my brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus.
