Proverbs 27

Verse 1 says, “Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring forth.” Oh how true this verse is. Many times we get caught up in our own abilities and forget where they come from, from God. We loose focus on the Lord, and start trusting in our own strengths, making promises that we can’t keep, and letting people down in the process. There is an old saying, “talk is cheap” and this proverb explains that.

We can boldly announce what we are going to do tomorrow, for we (as humans) don’t know what tomorrow may bring. I’m not saying don’t plan, please do, but don’t brag and boast about what you will do tomorrow, for you don’t even know if tomorrow will come, only God knows that. Plan for tomorrow, but live in the now, focused on the Lord Almighty.
