1 Timothy 4

Verse 1 states, “The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons”. Look around today and you will see this in practice.

With the “me” society, where personal pleasure and instant gratification are paramount, following deceiving spirits is sadly the case. There are countless books, cd’s, gurus teaching “spiritual” experiences through self-awareness and everything but the truth, the gospel of Jesus Christ. Be not deceived, John 14:6 says, “Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me”. No one goes to God without Jesus.

Think about it, how can you do enough to pay for your sins? How can you pay the price or help yourself when we all are imperfect beings? The Bible says in Romans 3:23 “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”. No amount of good works, self-awareness, rituals or sacrifices will get you there, only Jesus Christ. If you don’t know Jesus, then get to know Him now, He is waiting for you and loves you, He died for you to pay the price of sin that you could not pay on your own. If you know Jesus, but have strayed, come back now, He is still waiting for you and still loves you, unconditionally.

Thank you, dear Jesus, for loving us enough to die for our sins, to pay the price we cannot pay, for suffering for us that we may have everlasting life. Please guide, direct, and protect us from deceiving spirits and keep us focused on your one and only truth. Amen.
