Hebrews 13 - Pleasing GOD

Throughout this chapter, there are many great points of the new covenant, Jesus’ greatness, love, sacrifice and consistency; however, verses 15 & 16 stuck out to me today.

“(15) Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that confess his name. (16) And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.”

Wow, right there in black and white, things we can do to show sacrifice and please God. When we (continually) confess praises and sing joyful songs of praise to the Lord our God, God is pleased. When we do good things for others, big or small, God is pleased. When we share with others, blessing others with God’s abundant blessings on our lives, God is pleased. In short, a 3 step way to please God everyday:

1. Praise God
2. Do good
3. Share with others

God is so wonderful and gracious to me, the very least I can do is try to please Him and glorify Him in all that I do.

Now, keep in mind, no amount of praising, good deeds, or sharing will get us into Heaven. You can’t “buy” your way in, only through the Son, Jesus Christ, can we approach the Father; John 14:6 “Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” Therefore, we don’t do these things to “get to Heaven”, rather we do them in thanks because Jesus paid the price for us to “get to Heaven”, and we show our appreciation by pleasing God. Do you want to please God? Then start right now; He is waiting.
