Hebrews 3

This chapter speaks of the dangers of disbelief and turning our backs on God. Verses 12-13 state, “(12) See to it, brothers, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. (13) But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called Today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin's deceitfulness.”

As the verses state, we must not turn away from God AND we must also encourage one another DAILY so we are not taken in by sin’s deceitfulness. Sin can be very alluring, promising everything but delivering nothing but pain, heartache and separation from God. It is easy to look back at the children of Israel and judge, but are we any different? Daily we are tempted and prodded to place our trust and faith in different things instead of God (money, power, people, our own strength, organizations, etc.) and try to “justify” them, all while society is encouraging us to do so. Do not be drawn in by this farce! Do not let deceptions and lies separate you from God. Put Him first, above all else, and He will provide. He loves us like no other could and He wants the very best for us, His children. Why place your trust anywhere else?
