Hebrews 6

Verse 1 states, “Therefore let us leave the elementary teachings about Christ and go on to maturity,…”. What an awesome message! It is time, as Christians, that we move forward to the plan that God has for us. We have seen God’s glory, we have been saved by Jesus’ blood, to sit down now and be content in the basics of Christianity is irresponsible and useless. I have heard them jokingly called “the chosen frozen”. That is, they come to Christ and then sit in the pew and don’t grow. To just “go through the motions” doesn’t glorify God, it doesn’t further His plan, it does nothing but cripple the message of salvation. What if those before us did just that, not grow; how then would we have been brought to Christ and been saved? We wouldn’t have, and there are millions of others out there, right now, waiting on us to move forward to help them!

We all have talents that God has given us; there is a place for all of us, regardless of skills, to get involved. In addition, we are not perfect by any means, so there is plenty of room for growth, which we should all be seeking on a daily basis. Let me explain it this way, if you still had the same job, the same pay, the same benefits that you had at your very first job (some of us have to think back further than others); you would be outraged! None of us would expect that and we definitely wouldn’t consider it “fair”, yet, many Christians do just that! They do not grow in Christ, but are content to remain at the “first step”.

It’s far past time to move forward to maturity, to follow the examples of Christ, to “promote” to our true calling from God, and bring glory to His name. For He has given us everything, the least we can do is give as much as we can back to Him. Sorry for the “soap box” talk, but I am speaking to myself as much as I am to others.

God, please be with us and bless us to move forward to maturity, to be what You called us to be and bring You glory in all that we do.
