Matthew 4 - Temptation

Verses 1 thru 11 speak of the temptation of Jesus Christ. “1Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the desert to be tempted by the devil.” The devil tried on many levels to tempt Jesus, from physical hunger, to pride, to power, but each time Jesus invoked the Word of God from the Bible, to which the devil had no rebuke. Let this be a lesson to all of us.

If the Son of God, the world’s only perfect being, used quotes from the Bible to thwart Satan, then so can we. That is why it is extremely important for us to read the Bible, memorize the word, to use in times of weakness and temptation to thwart the devil and remain on the path to righteousness.

I thank God that we live in a country where we can read the Bible without fear of persecution, we can gather together to worship God without being punished, we can share what we’ve learned with one another, to grow spiritually, without being harmed. But it will not always be that way; there will come a time where we will be persecuted, so let’s use this time wisely to prepare. God bless and keep you.
