“38As he taught, Jesus said, "Watch out for the teachers of the law. They like to walk around in flowing robes and be greeted in the marketplaces, 39and have the most important seats in the synagogues and the places of honor at banquets. 40They devour widows' houses and for a show make lengthy prayers. Such men will be punished most severely."
Wow, what an awesome message and warning, be sure of why you are serving the Lord. Are you truly serving Him for His will to be done? Out of love for the Lord so you may share His goodness with others? Or are you doing it to bring attention on yourself? For the benefits of praise for YOUR goodness, not the Lords? This is VERY, VERY important to know. For if you are raising your hands to God so others can see you praise Him, or praying just so others can see you pray, or preaching the word to get kudos for yourself, then you will be “punished most severely”.
Make sure that you ask the Holy Spirit today to search you for the real reasons behind your actions. To make sure that you do what you do to praise and glorify God, not yourself. For if we focus on our Heavenly Father, He will receive the glory, as it should be. Amen?
