35"Therefore keep watch because you do not know when the owner of the house will come back—whether in the evening, or at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or at dawn. 36If he comes suddenly, do not let him find you sleeping. 37What I say to you, I say to everyone: 'Watch!' ",
We do not know when Jesus will return, it could be right now! According to Mark, Jesus doesn’t even know, only God does. 32"No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.” So Jesus tells us to be ever vigilant to our duties until He returns. 35"Therefore keep watch because you do not know when the owner of the house will come back—whether in the evening, or at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or at dawn. “
Since we don’t know when He will return, we must be doing everything we can to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ! There are many who are not saved, many who don’t know of Jesus, many who will suffer for eternity for their non-belief, many of them are our friends and family and it is up to us to reach them before time runs out!
We can’t help save them if we don’t take advantage of every opportunity to witness to them, for it may be our last chance. Our inaction could be their eternal damnation, so we have to do something about it; we definitely don’t want Jesus to return and find us doing nothing. 36If he comes suddenly, do not let him find you sleeping. 37What I say to you, I say to everyone: 'Watch!'.
So we can’t sit in the sidelines, sleeping and waiting; we must be vigilant, “watch” as Jesus said, and doing our part to spread the Gospel before we miss our chance. I don’t want to stand before God and say, “I know I could have done better for You, Lord, but I was sleeping”. Amen?
