“1Jesus left there and went to his hometown, accompanied by his disciples. 2When the Sabbath came, he began to teach in the synagogue, and many who heard him were amazed.
"Where did this man get these things?" they asked. "What's this wisdom that has been given him, that he even does miracles! 3Isn't this the carpenter? Isn't this Mary's son and the brother of James, Joseph, Judas and Simon? Aren't his sisters here with us?" And they took offense at him.
4Jesus said to them, "Only in his hometown, among his relatives and in his own house is a prophet without honor." 5He could not do any miracles there, except lay his hands on a few sick people and heal them. 6And he was amazed at their lack of faith.
Isn’t that exactly how it goes? Satan will use those closest to you to try and deter your steps. The people of Jesus’ hometown remembered His past, what He was and could not get past it to see what He had become. Because they looked at Him as a person, remembered His humble beginnings, they did not have faith. It was because of that lack of faith that they received no miracles.
If this dredging up of one’s past can happen to Jesus, you better believe it can happen to you. Your friends, relatives, acquaintances will remember you BEFORE you were saved, the enemy will use that against you, they will drag up your past and try to use it to tarnish your walk with Christ. DON”T LET THIS HAPPEN. We serve a God of second chances, He has forgiven us, Jesus died for us, so that we may be forgiven. God has forgotten those sins and will not bring them against us, so don’t let the enemy use your past and those closest to you to beat you up. God has great things in store for you and He looks to your FUTURE with Him, not your past without Him. Take heart, stand firm in your faith, bless the Lord. Amen?
