Mark 7 - Tradition or the Edge

“9And he [Jesus] said to them: ‘You have a fine way of setting aside the commands of God in order to observe your own traditions’!” Jesus was speaking to the leaders that criticized Him, but it applies to us today as well. How often do we use TRADITION, or quotes from the Bible (incorrectly) and take what we want from a sermon to justify OUR actions and OUR ways instead of following the commands of God! We let tradition and religion interfere with the prompting of the Holy Spirit. We do what is “comfortable” and ignore the message of the Good News!

We need to spend LESS TIME focusing on what makes us comfortable and to which we are familiar (our traditions and routines) and MORE TIME in the Word of God and prayer; then we will get direction from the Holy Spirit and do what GOD would have us do, for His glory, not our own. If you’re not on edge, then you’re probably playing it safe in comfort and tradition, right where the enemy wants you. Amen?
