Matthew 15 - Be Washed Clean

When challenged by the Pharisees about Jesus and His disciples not following their rituals (10) “Jesus called the crowd to him and said, "Listen and understand. 11What goes into a man's mouth does not make him 'unclean,' but what comes out of his mouth, that is what makes him 'unclean.' "

Jesus later explained to His disciples, “17"Don't you see that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and then out of the body? 18But the things that come out of the mouth come from the heart, and these make a man 'unclean.' 19For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander. 20These are what make a man 'unclean'; but eating with unwashed hands does not make him 'unclean.' "

Therefore, instead of focusing on how you look, focus on how you act. For you can be as “clean” on the outside (go to church, wear the right clothes, “do” the right things), but still be “unclean” on the inside, which will come out when you think those “church people” are not around. You’re not fooling God, for He sees you as you are. Focus on “cleaning” your heart, not your image, and you will go a lot farther. Seek Jesus first, let Him cleanse you with His blood, and He can clean you from the inside out, for Jesus is the only one who can. Will you let Him cleanse you today?
