Matthew 16 - Searching for Signs

“1The Pharisees and Sadducees came to Jesus and tested him by asking him to show them a sign from heaven. 2He replied, "When evening comes, you say, 'It will be fair weather, for the sky is red,' 3and in the morning, 'Today it will be stormy, for the sky is red and overcast.' You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but you cannot interpret the signs of the times. 4A wicked and adulterous generation looks for a miraculous sign, but none will be given it except the sign of Jonah." Jesus then left them and went away.”

We sometimes are rough on the Pharisees and Sadducees, but how much we are like them. We constantly ask for signs and miracles before we believe. Faith is believing without seeing, not believing once we have proof. Also, the Pharisees and Sadducees had seen and heard of the miracles of Jesus, yet they still refused to believe, so no amount of miracles were going to convince them otherwise or change their course of action. We have also been guilty of the same thing. Instead of testing the Lord, let’s follow His teachings and His will, as given to us in the Bible, and have a daily relationship with Him (through prayer), therefore we don’t need to see signs, we already know His will. Amen?
