John 9 - Why?

“ 1As he went along, he saw a man blind from birth. 2His disciples asked him, "Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?"
3"Neither this man nor his parents sinned," said Jesus, "but this happened so that the work of God might be displayed in his life.”

This man was blind from birth and everyone thought either he or his parents sinned to cause such an affliction, even Jesus’ disciples asked. But Jesus said “neither”, the affliction gave an opportunity for Jesus to show the glory of God. WOW.

The first part reminds me of how we can look at bad things in our life. We can question what we did to deserve it, how we could have done things differently to change the bad things, or if God is even listening at all. However, instead of focusing on the bad thing and/or its source, we should be focusing on how it can glorify God, for it may be part of His glorious plan, which is beyond our understanding. This is why we should glorify and praise God in ALL situations, not just the good times, for all things work in His plan and His understanding. Many, many times in my life things did not go as I planned and would be deemed a failure by man but, glory to God, they were EXACTLY as HE planned and they worked out even better than could be imagined. So, don’t fuss at the failures or bad things in your life, instead focus on the good that can come from it and glorify God in the process, for He will never forsake you. Amen?
