Romans 5 - God is Good

1Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. 3Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.”

There it is, not by our works, but by our faith that we are justified and gain access to grace, only through Jesus. Additionally, we are to rejoice in our sufferings! Rejoice? We are supposed to be happy that we suffer? Yes. Because, as the verse says, it is through our sufferings that we gain perseverance; through perseverance that we gain character; through character that we gain hope; and that hope in the promise of Jesus Christ will never disappoint, for God is good. He loves us so much that He poured His love into the Holy Spirit as a gift to us. The Holy Spirit that serves as a guide in hard times, a comfort in struggles, strength in our times of weakness, and gives us access to the Creator of the universe! Praise the Lord, thank you God for your love and grace, which I don’t deserve, but You give willingly anyway. God is indeed good!
